Ransom Child, the Toronto-based rock and roll band, emerged from the chaos of the COVID pandemic in 2020 with a purpose. Comprised of Justin Kerbel on lead guitar & vocals, Dan Szabolcs on bass, and Haylen Ferguson on drums, the trio quickly found solace in creating music together, channeling their personal struggles into their unique blend of hard rock and roll, led by an overdriven acoustic guitar. With influences ranging from southern rock and blues to metal, Ransom Child’s sound is both raw and powerful, capturing the intensity of their live performances.

Their debut album “When the Sun and Storm Meet,” is a reflection of the band’s tumultuous journey. Many songs featured deeply personal lyrics and themes of recovering from substance abuse and family conflict.

In 2021, the band continued to pour their hearts and souls into their music, releasing the “1,000 Ghosts” EP. The EP delved even deeper into the band’s personal experiences, and the music’s emotional power resonated with listeners.

Currently holed up in the studio, Ransom Child is in the process of recording their highly-anticipated sophomore album “The King is Dead.” The band promises that this new album will be even more raw and honest than their previous releases.
